East Academy Donation Opportunities

Thu, 12/11/2008 - 13:42
Due to tough economic times, the greatest school ever-- Ethan's school-- is experiencing funding troubles. East Academy was built for diversity, so they purposefully keep tuition low and even then, they offer a significant amount of financial aid to deserving families.

We're all banding together to raise some money to keep East, well, East, and I'm hoping you can help me out. Two great fundraising opportunities for you. Please help us out if you can!

First:
Ms. Bradford's First Grade class is raising money by holding a walk-a-thon. They are walking from the school to Pied Piper Creamery (www.myspace.piedpipercreamery.com) for a scoop of the most delicious of ice cream before heading back to school. Pied Piper has pledged that 15% of their sales on Friday, 12/12 will go to East, and the kids are all buying a scoop. THAT has to be the best walk-a-thon idea ever.

The kids are looking for sponsors. Can you spare 5 - 10 -15 dollars to support Ethan's cause? Or, if you prefer, can you pop over to Pied Piper for a tasty week-end treat? Why not do both?

If you can donate, drop me a line (or a comment). Ethan and I thank you!

Second:
As I've mentioned, the Crema Art Show is closing this weekend. That gives you three more days to shop: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Friday, we are having a big party-- details below- and for my own art, I am pledging that 50% of the sales will go to East Academy. That's on top of the 25% already going to Safe Haven. Two great charities for one low price! Most of my art is priced $50.00 or less, so they would make very special holiday gifts. Please come if you can!

Seven years ago

Wed, 12/10/2008 - 12:40
Seven years ago, Ethan entered this world bright eyed and wonderful. He retains those qualities and has added so many more.

This year, he taught the neighborhood to chant "omelette du fromage", though he can't be compelled to feel the same way about caso.

This year, Ethan really figured out this whole "reading" thing, and is off to the races.

This year, he began setting up elaborate performances with his action figures, "developing" game stories. I'll never forget the "solitary hero" (his words) who battles to save the "tree of everlasting".

Happy birthday, little guy!
