MikeIT's blog

Woohoo!
Submitted by MikeIT on Mon, 02/11/2008 - 17:07.WinterWar was this past weekend, and it's too bad I didn't know I'd be at a lull point of my thesis progress. If I had known I'd have so much time, I'd have signed up to run a few events. I did manage to play in the Warmachine tournament on Saturday. Apart from having to sit for about 4 hours before I got to play due to having a bye in the first round, it was a good time.

Easier post editor now online
Submitted by MikeIT on Mon, 02/11/2008 - 15:26.I've enabled a post editor that's a little easier for those that don't know HTML. If you decide you want to still do HTML, you need to click the "disable rich-text" link just below the editing window. If people end up not liking it, let us know, and we'll take it back off.

Feeding the habit aka playing World of Warcraft
Submitted by MikeIT on Tue, 09/11/2007 - 15:20.So if you've been checking out the Shout box, I've been trying out World of Warcraft along with ShoshieB1. About 6 years ago, I used to play Everquest quite a bit. However, it just got boring doing the exact same thing over and over. The world wasn't very deep, and it amounted to implementing the same strategy repeated ad nauseum in order to gain XP.

Submitted by MikeIT on Thu, 09/06/2007 - 03:48.This is a test of the WYSIWYG editor for the site. After we try it out for a bit to make sure it works, we'll make it available for everyone.
This is a test. What's it look like?

New theme almost ready
Submitted by MikeIT on Mon, 09/03/2007 - 16:26.A new Gamer Chicks Rule theme is almost ready. I will be doing some testing in the next few days as well as making one more major tweak. To me, it is a HUGE step from the existing template. Just in case it isn't though, users will have the choice of using the old theme or the new theme. I know which one I'll be using.

Forum posts can now appear on the home page
Submitted by MikeIT on Mon, 08/27/2007 - 00:26.Since the forums are picking up some steam, we decided to make it possible for forum posts to automatically get promoted to the home page. So now the home page has the most highly voted stories and forum posts from the last several days.

GenCon 2007 preparation - T minus 3 days
Submitted by MikeIT on Sun, 08/12/2007 - 23:19.We leave for Indianapolis on Wednesday, and we've got everything set. Be sure to look for us around the convention in our Gamer Chicks Rule gear. We'll also be at the Forum Stink party on Wednesday, probably the zombie mob thing on Thursday, the Privateer Press party on Friday, and the Gamer Chicks Rule get together on Saturday night.

Events live now, too
Submitted by MikeIT on Wed, 04/04/2007 - 13:06.The events feature is live now. You add new events the same way you add other new content. Please post only conventions for now though. After you've posted the event, it appears at the bottom of the left column with a countdown timer. If there are 5 other events that will happen first though, your event will only appear on the event calendar.

Blog development and events status update
Submitted by MikeIT on Tue, 04/03/2007 - 12:44.It wasn't until I was looking for a component to enable blogs that I realized that the software we use to build the site already had a blog module in the core components. So I enabled it, tweaked some of the settings, and here we are.
