QAGS 2nd Edition: The Quick Ass Game System (and why I love it)

Two years ago at Gencon MikeIT and I discovered a game system we had never tried before. Entitled QAGS or Quick Ass Game System http://www.hexgames.com/main/qags2e this name every bit implies the tongue in cheek method in which the game is presented in the book.
I had been looking for a new RPG to try after years of burnout from Vampire the Masquerade. I had been larping so many years that I yearned to just sit around a table again and roll some dice. As I scanned the event descriptions for Gencon I found one that specifically asked that female players sign up. Gamerchicksrule.com had not yet been born but I wanted to play games that other women were playing.
QAGS turned out to be a total ball. It took less than 10 minutes to roll up a character. Each of us was given a small pile of "Yum Yums" (skittles in this case) edible experience points. During the game we were awarded more Yum
Colin Thomas (Cult Hero) and Leighton Connor one of the creators of the book were our DM's for the story. We were each FBI agents out to solve the murder of a girl in a playboy bunny type of mansion. We had to pose as various hired help in order to find how Whodoneit. In the beginning I began to wonder if I had fallen into a boyhood fantasy of the GM's but by the end of the game we were laughing so hard and Steve kept the game for the most part PG-13, that it didn't end up that way.
The best part about QAGS is that it will work for any genre, or story idea. I ended up having so much fun that the next day I went back and played again. This time it was all guys and we each played Frat Brothers trying to save the earth from Crazy Evil Fembots. Again I laughed till I cried.
I enjoyed playing this game so much I bought the book. I was elated to find the book was just as outlandish and hysterical as the game itself was. Inside where all kinds of funny tables and charts. (None of which are needed but added along with numerous appendixes for your enjoyment).
One thing I should note. QAGS can be a funny humorous game but that doesn't mean it isn't just as applicable for a serious game as well. Any genre is just right be it horror or humor.
