Where have all the games gone?

22 XP

So recently Rin1 and I were musing about how no one ever plays games anymore. At least not of the board game/card game variety of the old days. Back in the day, we used to all huddle in MikeIT's basement for loads of fun playing cutthroat munchkin, intense games of settlers, or a variety of other games. But there hasn't been any of that for a really long time. I think part of it, is that some of the group got into/back into Magic. I'm not a hater, I swear, but if magic has completely stomped out all other games, then I am sorely disappointed. Granted, I *could* learn magic, but it's just not the sort of game that appeals to me. I like quick turns, quick thinking, random-ness of dice or playing cards, etc. It seems that just as I have cut the cord between the kid and I, and have emerged as a grown-up again, there are no games to come home to. *pouts* Any thoughts?

Soon I will be putting

Soon I will be putting together a group of local woman and girls who are interested in different types of games. In it we will be playing games, discussing what we do and don't like about the games among other things.

I'll be making an announcement about it soon!

We want you!

I really want to get a game night going

I'm also going to be working on the D&D intro adventure this week, and I'd love to have you and rin1 playtest it prior to GenCon. Also once the summer madness is done, I would really like to get a game day or game night going. When do the Magic folks get together? I have no desire to get into that, but if there are Magic widows or widowers, then we would have plenty of players for board games and card games. We'll also be picking up some new ones at GenCon to play, too.
