On another note, I have become addicted to a new game...

22 XP

To piggy-back my last entry, I forgot to mention that since our group hasn't played games in a while, I have been reduced to playing cards with my old aunts and mother and/or playing cards online. So I have learned a few games that most people our age don't know ... like Canasta! lol When I first learned it, I thought "hm, this seems really simple" but upon further play, it actually can take a lot of brain power! Granted, one could simply play the cards any-old-way, but if you apply a little logic, some careful thought, and a bit of card counting, the game can get quite intense. I can get fairly excited at times lol. One aspect of the game is similar to 500 Rummy where you can pick up the pile... my heart just *sinks* when that happens (or races depending on if it's ME who picks it up!) LOL!!

Another old time card game...

I grew up with my grandparents and mom, and one game that we would play almost every week was pinochle. I rather enjoyed playing and always seemed to "be lucky" enough to sit by my grandpa - we'd always be dueling to see who picked up the hand. Eye-wink
You start out with 2 pinochle decks with Jokers removed, then shuffle all of the cards and deal them out to everyone. There are two teams and you bid to see who starts off first, the bid is for the number of points that you think you can bring in by "winning" piles that are put down on the table(I know vague, but cannot think of another way to put it). Before you start playing, you get points for marriage, families, "pinochle" and different arrangements of the cards that each player holds. The winning bidder starts the game and you take it from there.
It's been so long since I've played, so I know I've forgotten a lot. I miss those days and my grandparents. It was a good time.

Yep! I play Pinochle to!

Yep! I play Pinochle to! Smiling People make fun of me because I call it "Euchre times 10" because it's similar yet different. I *love* pinochle but it's yet another game that very few people our age know how to play - I only know of one other person and we need at least 4 to play!! lol

Yeah, I play Canasta with my parents when they come down for a visit. I miss it so much! Depending on the strategies employed ... the game can quickly become "Nasty Canasty" hehe So much fun!
