For want of a Deathjack leg

In which I talk about an awesome mini-wargame I play as well as share my woes of lost parts for a commission I was working on for someone else.

My husband got me into miniature war gaming about a year ago. I am not too good at tactics but I really enjoy painting and showing off a faboo army. I got enough attention that I started getting commissions from the local gamers to paint their armies for them.

So I have been working on a fat commission lately and the guy who asked me to paint it emailed and asked if I could have it done by this weekend so he could participate in Winterwar (the local convention). I told him of course no problem!

I am almost done with the project when I realize I'm missing one Deathjack leg. For those of you unfamiliar with Privateer Press's Steam Punk miniature game a Deathjack is a $50 miniature. So you can imagine my horror and panic when I realize I can't find it. Thankfully I too play Cryx (the undead faction of Warmachine) so I have a Deathjack of my own.

I'll have to ask Hank if he wants to use mine while I order a new part from the website.

**edit**

Well the Deathjack Leg Fairy granted my wish. I bet you didn't know there was a Deathjack Leg Fairy did you? I confess I made it up because I thought it would be fun to say Deathjack Leg Fairy. It turns out the missing leg was where it was supposed to be the whole time. Attached to the Deathjack. I had forgotten that the other leg had fallen off in the process of trying to paint him. Yay! Hank will be happy.

PP is a Very VERY nice company

Privateer Press actually sells spare bits, and you can buy a single Deathjack leg, head, carapice, foot, arm, tortured souls, or what have you for relatively cheap. Though it is always nice to find the original bit and spare the expense.

It was quite funny. My boyfriend insisted for quite some time that it was imposible to get extra PP bases. Funny because when you go into the store section of the site one of the merchandice categories is bases. I laughed for about twenty minuets when I saw that, and would have promptly called him to gloat if it hadn't been five am. *cough*

Depends

Well since I was just starting out I'd charge the same amount as the blister or box cost. So if the Deathjack costs $50 that's how much he costs to paint as well. Unfortunately I usually end up painting several units of infantry. I try to have a system with these so they don't eat up too much of my time because I don't make much on them if at all. It all ends up even since the large minis don't take much time but are expensive.
My favorite was the Arch Daemon of Nurgle...I got $45 for him Smiling
