Settlers of Catan: Longest road fiend!
Anyone ever played this game? Man, it can get intense!! It all but breaks up happy homes and friendships! For those who haven't tried, ohhhh it's soo good! It's a board game w/ hex tiles that represent resources that you use to build and expand your settlements, cities, roads, and armies. Watch out though - there's a thief who can not only steal a resource from you, but can shut down production temporarily!! I love this game because the hexes are free standing so you can "shuffle" them, as well as the numbers that correspond to the dice. So it's never the same board twice which truly makes it a different kind of game every time! First one to 10 wins!
The other great thing about the game is that there are multiple ways to get points - upgrade your settlement to a city and gain an extra point, build the largest army and get two points. Buy a development card that gives you the governor's mansion - point! But MY personal fave is the 2 points you get for building the longest road! Race your opponent to win the longest road title. If they get it first, work furiously to steal it back!
The people I play this game with are no joke. We are hard core "Rule Nazis"! The poor direction booklets are all but disentegrated from over-use. LOL! Engage in a semantics battle over the rules AT YOUR OWN RISK! Oh, and some people in this game can hold a hella grudge! It's an effective strategy though because then everyone is afraid to cross them! Ohhhh it's SO good! And that's not even talking about the expansions!! It's a MUST TRY!!

Longest Road Proverb
Wise Man Say: Two people fight over Longest Road, third person win.
Yehuda
Heh - good to see that there
Heh - good to see that there are other "longest road fiends" out there! I've had good luck using Longest Road as a stealth tactic....very often, the other players will forget to count those two points, so you often are further ahead in the game than you seem, with longest road.
Most times, my beginning placement is made purely to maximize my road-building potential.
Fun stuff!
