GenCon 2007

184 XP

ShoshieB1 and MikeIT are going to be at GenCon for all four days, including visiting the local sites on the Wednesday before it starts. Here are the events we running. Only Homecoming Havok still has slots available for pre-registration. We are also planning a get together of site members. We hope you'll join us for a good time!

Gaming Events

Zombies (for Kids)!!! - Can you make your way through the city to the helicopter pad in order to escape the zombie invasion of your hometown? This simplified version of the Zombies!!! game is great for young gamers with dice rolling, counting, basic strategy, and teamwork...if you don't want to be the only one to survive.
Thursday, 1pm to 2pm - Kids
Game ID: KID00005

Homecoming Havok - You and your other cool clique best friends are the coordinators for the homecoming dance this year. Your reputations hang in the balance of making this homecoming dance the best EVAR! See if you can pull off an awesome homecoming in spite of your petty hatreds for each other. Best Friends is a diceless RPG, great for RPG veterans and first-timers alike. Women highly encouraged! Bring your BFF, too!
Saturday, 1pm to 3pm - RPG
Game ID: RPG00652

D&D introduction for women - This introduction to RPGs and D&D is for girls and women especially those who have never played D&D or even any RPG. Characters will be provided as will dice for use in the session. Bring your imagination and creativity along with your sense of adventure.
Sunday, 9am to 12pm - RPG
Game ID: RPG00249

Jack and the Beanstalk - Choose a faery character from among the pookas, brownies, pixies, and sprites of Brightwood Forest to help rescue Jack from the giant. Faery's Tale is a simple RPG system delightful for both children and adults. We encourage kids ages 6 to 13 to come with a parent for a magical adventure through this popular faery tale.
Sunday, 1pm to 3pm - Kids
Game ID: KID00001

Social Event

We are going to have a get together of the Gamer Chicks Rule community on Saturday night, August 18th, at 6:30pm. Our current plan is to have it at the food court in the Circle Centre mall right next to the convention center, but we may change that depending on the number of people that say they plan to attend. We will have some Gamer Chicks Rule loot, and it will give all the Gamer Chicks Rule members who attend GenCon a chance to meet each other. Bring a game, too, and maybe we can get in some gaming. Everyone is welcome including friends and family.

Contest

We're going to have a few prizes at the get together, but we have one contest we'd like to announce now. The three people in attendance with the highest total XP will win special prizes. Everyone in attendance is eligible even if you've won a previous Gamer Chicks Rule contest. Look for the "How do I get XP?" story for how you can earn XP. Good luck!

Y'all are definately on to something

Three out of your four events are sold out! (Two of my kids made it into your Jack and the Beanstalk event. How quickly did they sell out; do you know? My daughter would have enjoyed Homecoming Havok, but she and I are scheduled for a Dragonlance RPG until 2:00 pm. Keep up the great work! I look forward to see where you branch out next year.

Great role playing convention!

I was there with my oldest daughter and we really enjoyed the convention, i think there were event suited for all ages, which was great. I didn't know the website here until recently, but we will be there at gencon08, and may see some of you Smiling

Yeah we noticed a LOT of

Yeah we noticed a LOT of families at Gencon last year. Gamers are breeding! heheh
I don't know how fast the games sold out but I do know that there were very few kids games offered at all. Oh and don't worry about not getting to play one of them. We plan on seeing if anyone wants to just play pick-up games (they don't require tickets! Laughing out loud) So if you and your daughter still want to play Homecoming Havoc maybe when we see you we can work out a time to play. I'm very excited and I really believe reaching out to the young girls (and their moms) is where the future of the market is.

New website

There's a new website that was recently created called Dice N Diapers.
(www.dicendiapers.net) It's pretty neat.

Seems like a nice,

Seems like a nice, well-rounded line-up of events (and well within the site's mission statement!). There's something nice about the phrase "Zombies for Kids," like a really sinister daycare or something. I haven't been to a Gen Con since it left Milwaukee because, uh, I live there ("Don't know what you got 'til it's gone" and all that) and have never had the desire to make the drive to Indy (half laziness, half unwarranted resentment). Maybe one of these years I'll have the drive -- and the money-- to drive to Indy (never made it past South Bend in the past).

I'll be there!

My husband and I will be there starting Thursday! We went for the first time last and had a blast.

GENCON 2007

Whohooo...I too am going to Gencon. I already got my ticket to the Women and DnD event. Can't wait to meet some of you!

Jack and the Beanstalk

I just snagged the last two tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk. See y'all there!

Gamer Wenches at GenCon!

I, too, belong to the Gamer Wenches group on the GenCon Forums. In fact we're throwing a couple of events ourselves!

Thursday & Saturday at 8am, the Gamer Wenches will be conducting Orientation tours of the Indianapolis Convention Center for those who are new to GenCon, or just keep getting lost there...

Also, Saturday at 2pm, we'll be hosting a roundtable discussion covering a lot of the things that face women in gaming today. We'd love to see you! Bring your own questions/topics & join in!

I will be there, along with

I will be there, along with Rogue Games. I will be running demos as well as selling games. Still, my schedule is not that full yet, but I would love to attend a gathering.

I am totally there.... I

I am totally there.... I will probibly play the D&D Instructional game, because I could use a refresher course...(too much Savage Worlds for me lately).

GenCon Indy 2007

I will be attending GenCon Indy 2007. We're still trying to decide how many of my 4 children we will bring with us. (12 year old daughter, 8 year old son, 4 year old daughter, and will be 10 month old son) I look foward to meeting more friends there.

The GenCon community forums has a gaming group for women only. (Gamer Wenches) If anyone is interested, ask to be added to the list here: http://community.gencon.com/forums/thread/55499.aspx
