Yes, I know I'm a week late on this, as all the 300 hype was all over the place last week.

Let me just say this about this film, which was obviously made to appeal to the 18-30 something year old male; it was good. I liked it. Perhaps this is just because I'm weird and like gore and violence, or maybe it's because these so called, demographically focused movies aren't so demographically focused. Or maybe, as a gamer girl I'm just a bit more inclined toward things which are more commonly enjoyed by guys.

Even in cases where a girl isn't one for violence, and Greek battle formations, you have to admit that this film has some serious eye candy. Just look at all those Spartans. As my boyfriend worded it, about ten million times, "They're ripped."

Throw in the fact that the film has very well executed and well written narration and you've got me, a sucker for artful narration, hooked.

Plus this film also has a beautiful strong female character. The queen of Sparta is an amazing woman. Smart, cunning, and guileful, and fully capable of wielding the verbal bitch slap like none other.

"Who is this woman who dares to speak among men?"
"I speak among men because the Spartan woman is the only one who gives birth to real men."

The long and short of it is this; film companies need to make money, and they can't do that by making movies that only cater to men. They realize they have to keep the girl friends entertained as well, so don't discount a film just because it's clearly a "guy flick."
