While Tamora pierce most often dealt with knights and rogues in Tortall, she specializes in mages in her Living Circle books.
The first Living Circle series, The Circle of Magic introduces us to Sandry, Daja, Tris, and Briar. Together, the three girls and one boy form a circle of magic with surprising results. Each book in The Circle of Magic quartet follows the discovery and development of each youth
I absolutely loved Tamora
I absolutely loved Tamora Pierce's series "In the Hand of the Goddess"
I still have a hardback copy of "Alanna". I cannot say enough good things about her writing. I was 13 or 14 when I first read it. Perhaps as a woman who's always ignored stereotypical gender roles the idea of a girl growing up to become a Knight impressed me a great deal. I'll have to pick up Circle of Magic as I haven't read it yet.
More great books I hope my daughter reads one day.
