I have a blog!

Hi Everyone,
I have a blog! Woohoo! Anyway...

A friend encouraged me to start a blog reviewing books. Since I'm a librarian and I do this regularly for patrons, my friend suggested I create a blog of them.

Here's the url: www.books2escapereality.blogspot.com

Thanks for looking!

Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles

I just wanted to know if anyone else had ever heard of this series of juvenile/young adult fiction before. The first book was called "Dealing with Dragons" and the others were "Calling on ..." "Searching for ..." and "Talking to..." Dragons. I stumbled over it back in high school and read all four books (plus a random collection of short stories in the same world) and loved them.

The Elenium & Tamuli

One of my favorite series is by David Eddings. His first "big hit," I believe.

My wife and I loved this series so much that we named our first child's middle name after one of the characters!

Dragon Rider

By Cornelia Funke

I admit, I haven't actually "read" this book yet. However, I have listened to the book on CD and fell in love with it immediately ... or was it just because the story is read by Brendan Fraser (he's a great storyteller)? The book is written for kids, but easily enjoyable as an adult too.

The Daughters of the Stars

The Daughter of the Stars is my absolute favorite book in the whole world. Chances are though, that you've never heard of it. It was published in 1939. The author was Mary Crary and the illustrator was Edmund Dulac. My mother used to read the book to me and this may be part of why it's my favorite.

the writings of Stephen R. Lawhead

This guy is a long-time favorite of mine. I've read most of his books and have enjoyed them all. "He is a bestselling American writer known for his works of fantasy, science fiction and more recently, historical fiction. He has written over 22 novels and numerous children's books."

Tamora Pierce - Tortall

Tamora Pierce excels at writing books with what she terms "sheroes." She and author Meggin Cabot co-founded Sheroes (www.sheroescentral.com), a place to celebrate female heroes. One of the facts they feature on their website indicates “80% of childrens’ books published today feature male heros.” It’s no surprise that the majority of Ms. Pierce’s characters are female.
