On playing Gender roles in Roleplaying games
Submitted by ShoshieB1 on Sun, 01/06/2008 - 01:11.So as you know my current game of choice is World of Warcraft. I've been having a ball on a roleplaying server and have created several characters. I've made several online friends through guilds and playing. But most recently I decided for a change of pace to create a Male Paladin. All my other characters have not only been female, but also very feminine and girly girly, so this would be a "switch" to say the least.

How I avoided getting hit on in a MMORPG
Submitted by ShoshieB1 on Mon, 11/19/2007 - 14:24.Some of you know that I have been playing the online MMORPG called World of Warcraft lately. I really enjoy this game and even more recently I decided to create a character on one of the Roleplaying servers. The difference between these and the PvP or PvE servers is that while similar to the PvE (Player vs. Environment) the Roleplaying servers expect you to roleplay out your character and naming your toon Darthvader or Killzalot is frowned on and can even be reported for violating TOS.

Metaplace
Submitted by MikeIT on Wed, 09/19/2007 - 14:40.Raph Koster is one of the forefathers of MMO games. He did a lot of his early work on Ultima Online which was really the first MMORPG. His company, Areae, has been working on a secret project for over a year, and they finally unveiled it today - Metaplace.

World of Warcraft or as MikeIT calls it "World of Warcrack"
Submitted by ShoshieB1 on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 15:07.After nearly 5 hours of downloading and clicking on user agreements and more downloading of patches. I was finally able to log in to my 14 day trial account of World of Warcraft. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com

Tribal Wars
Submitted by MikeIT on Tue, 05/22/2007 - 14:19.A few weeks ago, one of my friends got me to try out the web-based strategy game called Tribal Wars. Since I had been looking for some more games beyond One More Level's flash games, I decided to give it a shot. It's been a fun experience so far, and it's a great alternative to MMORPGs or other graphic-intensive games.

Pirates MMORPG
Submitted by Sephera on Sun, 04/01/2007 - 03:15.There's a pirate MMORPG coming out! Actually, there's two! Any thoughts on which one will be better? So, which to write about? How about both? Here I present what little information I know about Pirates of the Burning Sea (www.burningsea.com)estimated release June 2007 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Online (www.pirateslegend.com) estimated release Spring 2007.
Runescape, the Little MMO That Could
Submitted by ValentineW on Sat, 03/10/2007 - 15:31.It's a tiny little MMORPG, without the graphics or sound quality of an Everquest, let alone Wow, but Runescape does one thing better than any other MMO I've ever heard of...content.

City of Heroes/Villains
Submitted by Mortiana27 on Tue, 03/06/2007 - 22:06.Well, it started in 2004. My husband and I were trying to save money for a vacation to the Yukon (Canada) and his father was all abuzz with raves of a new superhero game called City of Heroes. It sounded interesting, but even with all the rave reviews, one phrase stood out loud and clear - pay to play. It was going to cost us to play the game. Immediately, we knew the answer would be no.

Knight Online.................... not just for guys.
Submitted by SarahD77 on Sat, 02/10/2007 - 01:25.If you enjoyed playing legend of Zelda on the Original Nintendo way back in the late 80’s you will love Knight Online.
You can start by heading to www.Knightonlineworld.com for information and to download the game.
This game is Free to play which is great, the down side is its so popular that if you don’t pay for premium service getting on the game is difficult at times. They reserve server space for those willing to pay to play; if you’re not among those paying to play you will only be able to get on at certain times of the day.

Eve Online: Where are the Women?
Submitted by Dragondazd on Wed, 02/07/2007 - 19:22.With my husband so much into Eve Online http://eve-online.com/ I decided to give it a shot. The game is extremely well done and has a depth that I find lacking in other MMORPG's. The average player age is 27 and they are predominantly male. Far more so than in other MMORPG's. Far, far, far more so. In my alliance of a thousand, there's maybe three female players, while there are probably a good 40% female portraits floating in space. I have heard hundreds of voices on voice servers, but to this date, I have only had direct contact with one female.
