Patrician

We recently acquired a copy of Patrician from Mayfair games. Like every other Mayfair game I have played, the construction quality is excellent. The game plays with two to five players and lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. It lists for ages 10 and up, but our eight-year old had no problems playing it.

Elementary School has fun with Games and raises money for their school

MikeIT and I just got back tonight from our daughter PhiPhiBabe's school Family Spirit Night. We decided to try and get our school to participate in the Million Minute Family Challenge. I mentioned in a previous post about how we were going to be organizing a game night for the event. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at the time I volunteered us to co-chair a committee. It required organizing, gathering games, and volunteers. We contacted a few game companies and three responded with generous offers of donated games to our school for the fund raiser.

Board Games- 7th annual Million Minute Family Challenge

I found out about this earlier this year from Sephera's post
Family Time and signed up to get an announcement in my email. I've already sent out a letter to my local PTA to ask if they would be interested if MikeIT and I co-chaired the committee to get it organized.

GenCon from the GamerChicksRule-oriented male perspective

It was the fastest four days I've experienced in a while, but it was a really good time. This was probably the hardest GenCon to have to leave, and I think that says a lot about the direction of the industry and the potential impact that groups like GamerChicksRule.com can have.

Munchkin and possibly Chez Geek at GenCon

After talking to Steve Jackson Games, they are going to provide us with a couple prizes for our gathering on Saturday night. So now there's even more incentive to come join the gathering: a chance to win free Steve Jackson Games! We're going to see if we can line up some other prizes including the Gamer Chicks Rule things we have planned.

GenCon 2007

ShoshieB1 and MikeIT are going to be at GenCon for all four days, including visiting the local sites on the Wednesday before it starts. Here are the events we running. Only Homecoming Havok still has slots available for pre-registration. We are also planning a get together of site members. We hope you'll join us for a good time!

Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers review

So after reading some reviews of Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers, I went down to the friendly local game store to order it. After playing a few times with my 7-year old daughter, I thought I'd post a review from a new gamer chick perspective. Overall, I think it gets a A- for playing with her so far.

Family Time

Today's lifestyles seem so much more hectic than I remember them being as a child. Growing up, we always ate dinner as a family and we used our "Family Room" as a place where everyone in the family got together. We might have watched a few movies as a family, but we spent more time communicating with each other.

Ticket to Ride

For some reason, my family doesn't seem to play very many board games. My parents didn't socialize much growing up, so I never really saw them play board games. However, recently we've had friends invite us over to play board games and I'm quickly getting addicted. My current board game to add to my wish list is Ticket to Ride (http://www.ticket2ridegame.com).

TGA Changing Structure of Puffing Billy...maybe?

There's been some discussion on the Train Gamer Association forums about changing the structure of the Puffing Billy, definitely for RailCon and possibly for GenCon.
